The Climate Resilient Development Programme is looking for a new team member with a strong background in development and climate change adaptation. About UNEP DTU Partnership The UNEP DTU Partnership (UDP) is a leading international research and advisory institution on energy, climate change and sustainable development. UDP is a collaborating centre of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and works with a broad range of international organisations and partners in developing countries. UDP has a staff of approximately 70 from more than 20 different countries with backgrounds ranging from economics, to science, engineering, and energy planning. We currently have project activities in more than 60 developing countries. Staff are employed in four thematic programmes, supported by an administration and communications unit. About the Climate Resilient Development (CRD) Programme The CRD Programme is expanding its portfolio of activities and is looking for a researcher to join its team of 11 colleagues. The researcher is expected to contribute to the Programme's work in the following three sub-areas: 1. Diffusion and uptake of technologies for adaptation. 2. Climate compatible development planning, implementation and evaluation. 3. Engaging private sector in climate resilience. Within each of these three areas, the CRD Programme undertakes research and provides capacity building, analytical and technical support, and policy advice to reduce the vulnerability and enhance the climate resilience of developing countries. We work with academia as well as with public and private partners in developing countries and internationally. Key tasks and responsibilities The researcher will contribute to the ongoing implementation and further expansion of activities with a particular focus on the following: - Private sector engagement in adaptation: lead current work and expand activities in this area, including analysis of sustainable financing models for cooperatives and development of frameworks for business models that incorporate the costs and benefits of adaptation and climate resilience into the supply chain. - Nationally Determined Contributions: assist developing countries in their efforts to identify and assess adaptation needs and implement actions to meet those needs. Other key tasks and responsibilities include: - Support and ensure the technical rigor of complex analytical and advisory services. - Initiate and implement new projects in co-operation with development aid donor agencies, international experts, and developing country institutions and experts. - Build, manage and participate in diverse project teams. - Initiate and contribute to resource mobilisation activities, including project concept development and preparation of project proposals Cultivate and maintain effective networks and partnerships with country partners, partner agencies and multi-partner fora. - Represent UNEP DTU Partnership and the Climate Resilient Development Programme at expert group meetings, regional consultations, workshops and seminars. - Contribute to high-impact publications, including briefs and reports. Selection Criteria We are looking for a dynamic team player who possesses strong knowledge and expertise in the climate change adaptation and development area and who fully meets the following criteria: - PhD degree of relevance to climate change adaptation and disaster risk management. - Experience with research-based scientific advice and dissemination in an international context. - Experience with project coordination and management. - Experience with qualitative data collection, participatory data collection tools, coding and analysis. - Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills in English. Working proficiency in French is a strong advantage. - A track record of teamwork and ability to produce high-quality results and outputs under pressure with limited supervision. - Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills. - Exper
