Novo Nordisk is recruiting a Global Medical Director to join the Global Medical Affairs GLP-1 team in the Company headquarters outside of Copenhagen, Denmark. This is a unique opportunity to work for a world leader in diabetes care and help improve the lives of people with diabetes and obesity worldwide. About the department Global Medical Affairs is responsible for delivering consistent scientific communication across all phases of clinical trials and marketed products. We provide input to phase I-III trial design and drive post approval study strategy. The position The Global Medical Director will lead a team of Medical Doctors with clinical, research, and pharmaceutical experience to support the company obesity portfolio with specific focus on liraglutide 3 mg. Reporting to the VP, the Medical Director will be represented in global decision boards and work closely with the Medical and Science Team Directors, Global Medical Affairs management, Global Brand Management and Novo Nordisk regions and affiliates. The Global Medical Director is responsible for the development of the global medical affairs strategy incl. publication strategy in alignment with new scientific insight and product development set by the Core Commercialisation Team/ Life Cycle Management Team. The director of Global Medical Affairs is responsible for scientific alignment and will facilitate that scientific knowledge is appropriately communicated and understood internally and externally from global to local across the world. Externally, the Global Medical Director acts as a liaison between Novo Nordisk and the scientific community and is responsible for scientific meetings and conferences. The position calls for a mature individual who can work as a strategic partner within interdisciplinary project teams and provide input to clinical development plans with a clinical and market perspective. Leadership qualifications must be evident e.g. from earlier leadership positions or project management; the position builds on strong people management skills and a willingness to develop the team to drive performance. Qualifications The candidate must have a background as Medical Doctor with PhD and/or specialist degree, strong clinical and research background in area of diabetes mellitus and/or obesity with interest in advanced scientific analysis and communication. The candidate must be action oriented, with a strong drive, and focus on results; Extrovert, engaged, customer-oriented and be a strong communicator; Team-player with good peer relationships; Well structured and perseverant; High integrity and good at solving problems; Flexible attitude, willingness to travel and motivated for development of self and direct reports; fluent in both oral and written English (company language) and strong presentation skills. Location: The position is based in Denmark in Søborg (5 miles from the centre of Copenhagen). Extensive worldwide travel is a requirement.
