Research Assistant in development and testing of nanostructured electrocatalysts

The Department of Energy Conversion and Storage invites applications for a position as Research Assistant in a research group that works with electrochemistry and ceramic processing to develop next-generation solid oxide fuel/electrolysis cells (SOCs). The Research Assistant will focus on fabrication and testing of new nanostructured materials that function as high-performance SOC electrodes. Responsibilities and tasks The Research Assistant will work with the following research topics: •Fabrication of oxide electrodes with stable, high surface area structure •Analysis of microstructure and electrochemical performance of the electrodes •Assist in article writing Qualifications Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering or equivalent. The candidate is expected for have qualifications and documented experience within the following experimental techniques: •Sol-gel chemistry and metal-organic solution deposition •Electrochemical characterization by impedance spectroscopy •Scanning electron microscopy The candidate must have analytical skills, research potential, be well-organized and enterprising and possess good interpersonal skills needed for collaboration. Experience with related aspects will be positively taken into consideration. The candidate must have the ability to master English, spoken as well as written English.
