Research Scientist in Spatial Analysis of Transport, Energy and Urban Systems

The Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CCSD) research group, Systems Analysis Division, Department of Management Engineering, Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a 2-year research scientist position within the field of spatial analysis of energy and climate change with a strong focus on transport and urban systems. Responsibilities and tasks The research scientist will be part of a multi-disciplinary research team and will be responsible for: •Develop spatial methodologies and modelling techniques for the integration of geographical variables into analyses of energy, climate change and urban systems. •Participate in the development of the Division's research on smart cities. •Facilitate the development and use of geo-spatial methods in the Division. •Work on a multi-disciplinary research project incorporating the transportation sector into an energy system framework regarding infrastructure, geography, transport demand and modal choice. •Establish national and international research collaboration. •Develop and contribute to external funding research projects. •Develop and contribute to research-based consultancy. •Publish results in peer reviewed journal papers. •Teach a masters course on infrastructure and smart cities. •Co-supervise Masters and PhD students. Qualifications Candidates must hold a PhD degree in geography or similar degree with a focus on spatial analysis. The successful candidate is moreover expected to have documented skills within several of the following areas: •Advanced GIS skills using ArcGIS including python programming skills. •Geographical modelling experience with special focus on transportation, socio-economics and urban systems. •Experience in spatial analysis of large datasets. •A good understanding of climate change, energy and transport issues in Denmark and Europe including their integration into urban systems. •Teaching in spatial analysis techniques.
