CopenhagenLocal/ExpatGeoscience Ref.: MO-041395 Maersk Oil is looking for a Senior Geologist to join the Maersk Oil Corporate Reserves Team at its head office in Copenhagen, reporting to the Maersk Oil Reserves Manager. The Reserves team administers the Maersk Oil Resource Management System and is responsible for producing the industry standard (SPE PRMS) Reserves and Resource reporting for Maersk Oil and APMM. This is a senior level appointment with due consideration given for the level and depth of experience of the applicant. The incumbent will join a professional team of Engineers and Geologists supporting Maersk Oil to develop self-sufficiency in estimating and maintaining technically defendable reserves in accordance with the Maersk Oil Corporate Resource Management System guidelines. You will be exposed to the exploration, project and operational environments across all Maersk Oil business and exploration units, gaining insight into existing and potential new developments. A key deliverable will be to assist and assure the technical work carried out by the evaluation teams, interacting at stage gates and resource maturation events. Training and development of less experienced staff will be expected in order to develop internal reserve competency in Maersk Oil. The incumbent will be expected to have a high degree of autonomy within the team, be exposed to senior management and prepare material for external and internal reporting. Key Responsibilities The Geologist, in their role as a technical specialist and internal auditor will be responsible for: • Review and QC of 3D geological models to assure that the uncertainty ranges and limits describe resources in accordance with the SPE-PRMS standard. • QC of the geological and geophysical maps derived from the 3D models to assure Compliance to the requirements of SPE-PRMS standard. • Coach and mentor geologists and geophysicists in the businesses to deliver compliant products • Reviewing the complete integrated technical merit of a reserves/resource submission and providing an opinion to the compliance to the SPE PRMS and reasonable and fair evaluation of the volumes and forecasts. Who we are looking for • Self-starter with strong analytical, organizational and communication skills • Experience level commensurate with a senior level appointment in Maersk Oil (likely to be 10 or more years of experience) • Experience in estimating reserves according to the SPE-PRMS reserves guidelines • Experience related to the assurance of subsurface projects • A proficiency in uncertainty characterization (probability theory, techniques and software) • Proficiency in creation of 3D cellular geological models (Petrel experience preferred but Roxar RMS is a plus) • Able to build one’s own geological models and navigate other’s geological models for use in reservoir simulation, and to examine model uncertainties and limits. • Fundamental understanding of petroleum economics. • Fluency in written and spoken technical English. • MSc. level or higher in Geology is preferred. In addition, one or more of the following skills will strengthen the incumbent’s application • Ability to define quickly that the scope and scale of a study are appropriate to the business requirement and the volume/quality of data and time available. • A track record of proficiency in building 3D geocellular models and ability to critique those of others to assure that the ranges and limits of model uncertainty are appropriate to the complexity o
