Senior Scientist for Department of Diabetes Pharmacology

About the department We are seeking an experienced and talented scientist to join the department of Diabetes Pharmacology, which is part of Global Research. Our department is responsible for in vivo pharmacology, in rodents. We develop, characterise and use in vivo models for early evaluation of drug candidates for treatment of diabetes, with main focus on new anti-diabetics for T2DM, beta-cell regeneration and diabetic cardiovascular complications. The department consists of approximately 20 employees including academics, technicians and Ph.D. students. We work in smaller teams in a flexible, collaborative and cross-functional setting, while keeping focus on quality and goals in an informal environment. The position Your key scientific responsibilities will be to engage actively in discovery projects giving pharmacological support and guidance. You will be designing, coordinating, and reporting efficacy studies in rodents as a key driver in our project teams and present experimental data to colleagues and management. You will also be expected to contribute to innovation by identifying and exploring new drug targets and project opportunities. Within the line organisation, you will be an active driver in continuously improving our experimental approach in evaluating the potential of new drug candidates and understanding their mechanism of action. You will be responsible for managing 1-2 technicians and to maintain a close collaboration with our internal stakeholders. You will participate in cross-functional project teams with colleagues representing many different scientific disciplines. Your role in these project groups will be to provide solid pharmacological expertise and conclusive experimental in vivo data in order to bring the projects forward. You will also be encouraged to initiate and coordinate external scientific collaborations. Qualifications You hold a Ph.D. degree within a relevant scientific discipline and have considerable postdoctoral research experience within in vivo pharmacology with a thorough understanding of T2DM, the metabolic syndrome and comorbidities. Ideally, you have experience with drug discovery and target evaluation from the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry. You are flexible, open to new ideas, ambitious, and result oriented. The job requires proficiency in English and excellent communication and collaboration skills. You will be part of a team in a highly dynamic and challenging environment within Global Research.
