Postdoc in Socio-Material Shaping of Wind Power Projects

A 2-year Postdoc position within socio-material shaping of wind power facilities is available at Department of Management Engineering within the division of Technology and Innovation Management and in close collaboration with Aalborg University, Department of Development and Planning (Copenhagen). Responsibilities and tasks The post doc position is part of the Wind2050 project “Multidisciplinary study on local acceptance and development of wind power projects”. The main focus of the research is analyses of the socio-material shaping of wind power projects based on dialogue research in relation to a number of Danish wind power projects during their planning and implementation, carried out as longitudinal case studies. It is also an aim of the research to contribute to reflections in the wind turbine projects about the co-shaping of the projects and the local conditions. The applied methods include interviews, observations and document review. Comparative analyses are made with international experiences. The research includes cooperation with the other participating research institutions involved in the study of the socio-material shaping of wind power projects, including Aalborg University and Queens University Belfast. Interviews, participant observation, stakeholder meetings and workshops and document review are used for the dialogue research in the longitudinal case studies of on-going wind power projects. The position may include some teaching at the involved Danish universities. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. The preferred candidate has a background within social science or humanities and should document competences within mapping and analyses of the socio-material shaping of technologies and technological systems based on theories like Actor-Network Theory and other approaches within sociology of technology. Candidates should furthermore document experiences with qualitative research methods, including research interviews, participant observation and stakeholder meetings and dialogues. Experience with analysing the energy sector will be considered an advantage.
