Scientist for Protein Purification and Process Development

- Research Scientist - Denmark - Måløv The Protein Purification Team is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to strengthen our protein and peptide purification and process development activities. The position is in the Process Technology Department, within the Global Research Unit located in Måløv, north-west of Copenhagen. It is available from 1st of September and applications will be evaluated continuously. The Global Research Unit specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. About the department The department, Process Technology, consists of 11 scientists and 19 technicians divided into two teams, Protein Purification and Yeast Physiology & Cultivation. The department is responsible for early process development for new drug substance candidates and provides proteins for preclinical testing. We do this with state of the art technologies within protein expression, cultivation and purification technologies and in close collaboration with other areas within Global Research and CMC Development. The job Our work is facilitated by multidisciplinary project teams. You will provide scientific expertise within protein/peptide purification from mg to gram scale to several early stage projects. You will plan, evaluate and report experimental work in the laboratory, carried out by experienced laboratory technicians and yourself, both independently and in close collaboration with other team members. Furthermore, you will be responsible for early purification process development and transfer to CMC. Qualifications You hold a Ph.D. in protein chemistry, biochemistry, biochemical engineering or related discipline. Extensive experience with chromatography techniques like ion exchange, HIC, SEC, RPC and other protein/peptide separation techniques is a must. Furthermore, you are well experienced in purification process development, scale-up and optimization from laboratory scale to pilot scale. Experience with high-throughput process development, in-process analysis, UPLC, DoE/QbD and modelling of purification processes is considered an advantage. Finally, since all work takes place in multidisciplinary project groups, good interactive and communicative skills are essential.
