You refer to Head of Mechanics, Jakob Vernersen. ”You join a team of FEA Engineers who support the entire R&D organisation in Grundfos with mechanical simulations. You will apply simulations in technology, frontloading and development projects to optimise the performance, quality and level of innovation of our solutions,” Jakob explains. What is the job about? As our new FEA engineer, you will spend the majority of your time on advanced mechanical simulations, performing non-linear analyses that include large deformations, plasticity and multiple contacts. You conduct modal and harmonic analyses of large assemblies and carry out fatigue and fracture simulations on plastic and metal components. Moreover, you apply state of the art methods – e.g. Multi-physics (FSI), topology optimisation and perform optimisation studies to develop high performing, low-cost components. As you get your results, you translate them into understandable findings and communicate these to relevant stakeholders. You also apply your knowledge of mechanics, materials and physics to provide advice on design improvements and you produce high quality documentation. A part of your job also revolves around developing simulation methods, procedures and tools to increase performance and precision in simulations. “This is a position where you will apply simulations to solvecomplex mechanical challenges and develop innovative technological solutions using state-of-the-art simulation tools,” Jakob says. What do you need to apply? You have an M.Sc. or maybe a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and a deep understanding of structural mechanics, physics and materials. This is combined with 3-5 years of experience in R&D activities, working with Finite Element Analysis – static, dynamic, modal, fatigue, fracture, as well as multi-physics simulations (E.g. FSI). Moreover, it is an advantage if you have knowledge of parametric and topology optimisation, programming (E.g. Python, APDL) and simulation model validation by experiments. Experience with ANSYS and CATIA (3D CAD) is also an advantage, but not a prerequisite. You speak and write Danish and English fluently. “On a personal level, you are a proactive team player with an international mind-set. You carry out simulations and find solutions independently, using your analytical and systematic skills. And finally, your interpersonal skills allow you to translate your specialist knowledge into input and solutions for non-specialists and provide them with answers they can understand and use,” Jakob finishes.
