If so, you have now the opportunity to join the Protein Characterisation Team of the Global Research Unit at Novo Nordisk in Denmark! The Global Research Unit of Novo Nordisk specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. The Global Research Unit consists of approximately 1500 highly qualified Scientists, PhDs/PostDocs and Lab Technicians and we conduct our world class research from sites based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Beijing, Indianapolis and Seattle. About the department Analysis and Characterisation Technology is part of the global Protein Engineering function area, involved in the discovery and development of proteins and peptides for treatment of diabetes, obesity, haemophilia and growth disorders. We are organized in teams dedicated to LC-MS based protein characterisation and analysis method development. The Protein Characterisation Team currently consists of 6 scientists, 5 technicians and 1 PhD student. The position The primary focus of the Associate Scientist will be to independently execute LC or LC-MS based workflows for the in-depth characterisation of peptides and proteins, including impurity analyses and stability assessments to support protein analogue design. As a largely laboratory-based position, the successful candidate will also assist in the development of novel peptide and protein characterisation workflows, including sample preparation, chromatographic separation, data acquisition strategies and quantitative analysis. The qualified candidate is also expected to critically analyse and interpret experimental data and to prepare clear and well-documented findings for distribution to multi-functional project teams. Finally, the ideal candidate proactively identifies and resolves experimental issues and performs basic instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as required. Qualifications You hold a Master of Science or equivalent degree in chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, biochemistry or a related discipline with preferably 2-4 years of experience working within an analytical laboratory developing methods for the characterisation of peptides and proteins. Specialization in peptide or protein mass spectrometry (Orbitrap and TOF MS) in combination with liquid chromatography is required. Experience in quantitative LC and LC-MS based approaches and methods for the detailed chemical structure determination of peptides and proteins are beneficial. You have the ability to perform tasks independently with strong commitment to high quality analysis, data interpretation, documentation and reporting. Finally, since all work takes place in multidisciplinary project groups, you are a success-oriented team player, easily build relationships between team and project members and gain recognition amongst stakeholders with your enthusiasm, pro-activeness, integrity and communication skills.
