Copenhagen Local/International Geoscience Ref.: MO-049747 The Halfdan Asset within the Danish Business Unit is offering a challenging position for an experienced petrophysicist to work on sub-surface studies supporting field development and reservoir management actvities. The position is located in Copenhagen. The Halfdan field is operated by Maersk Oil (39%) on behalf of its partners Shell 46% and Chevron 15%. With production of around 70,000 barrels of oil per day, Halfdan is by far the largest oil producing asset in the Danish sector of the North Sea. The Halfdan Field comprises two chalk reservoirs. The lower reservoir contains primarily oil, and is developed by a waterflood line drive pattern with more than 60 ultra-long horizontal wells (typical horizontal section 16,000 feet, placed at a 600 ft spacing). The upper reservoir contains primarily gas, and is developed by 15 single lateral and dual lateral ultra-long horizontal gas production wells. We Offer The position offers a dynamic and technically challenging working environment. In addition to management of the developed reserves, exciting further development opportunities include flank expansion of both the oil and the gas development, and possible application of EOR. The Halfdan subsurface organization, with around 20 dynamic and highly motivated experts comprises two teams: A more operational team focusing on reservoir management and a development/modelling oriented team delivering. The two teams work closely together and interact closely with the other functions within the asset organization. Further development opportunities will be available to the right candidate. Key Responsibilities As Senior/Lead Petrophysicist in the subsurface team you will have a key position working both with the Well and Reservoir Management Team and the Studies Team. The work includes log and core analysis, saturation height modelling with complex tilted free water levels in tight reservoirs, PLT and DTS/DAS planning and execution, and Caliper QC. You will be working closely together with geophysicists, geologists, reservoir engineers and production engineers to improve the understanding of the distribution of reservoir quality rock, the distribution of movable hydrocarbons and sweep patterns. Key Responsibilities includes: • Petrophysical input to field development studies and projects including conventional and special core analysis, log analysis, rock mechanical analysis, reservoir characterisation and saturation height modelling for input to reservoir models. • Participate in static and dynamic model building proactively identifying and implementing improvements to existing practices and modelling workflows • Supervising and project management of core analysis and SCAL studies • Support the operational activities ensuring that petrophysical understanding is integrated when making decisions regarding well placement, completion, reservoir management and further development activities • PLT planning, execution and follow-up • DTS/DAS planning, execution and follow-up • Caliper QC and support for corrosion forecasting • Active role in developing the petrophysical community within the Danish Operation Subsurface team and take a leading role in the petrophysical discipline • Mentor less experienced employees and develop younger petrophysical staff within technical discipline area • Commission of external petrophysical studies and manage sub-contractors providing specialist services to the Subsurface Organisation team.
